Wightwick Manor

Wightwick Manor just has to be one of the best properties on show in the West Midlands. Of course its pretty much a personal thing but the walk up from the car park with the bridge over the road and the beautiful grounds and views across the valley make this a choice day out. Wightwick Manor was built by the Mander family who were successful 19th century industrialists. This Victorian manor was completed in 1887 and extended in 1893.

Wightwick Manor is famous for its interior design by William Morris and C E Kempe. The original wallpaper and fabrics by William Morris are still intact and the Kempe glass is superb. The extensive gardens lend themselves to the granduer of the house as do the outbuildings.

The house was passed to the National Trust by Sir Geoffrey Mander in 1937. Descendants of the family still retain a residence in the manor.
