The photo above shows smoke from the recent fire in Smethwick which was thought to have been caused by a Chinese Lantern landing on open bales of plastic awaiting onward transmission for recycling. Smoke from the fire had risen upwards to 4,000 feet. It took nearly 200 Fire Officers to finally put out the blaze.
